Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 7, 2026
Enclip is a Chrome extension that enhances video and post cards on Douyin, Bilibili, YouTube, and TikTok with publicly available metrics, including views, likes, comments, shares, favorites, publication date, duration, and calculated engagement rates. This Privacy Policy explains what information the extension accesses, how it is used, and the choices available to users.
Information Enclip accesses
Enclip accesses only the information needed to provide its user-facing video analysis feature:
- Supported page content: video or post URLs, public identifiers, and publicly displayed statistics found on supported Douyin, Bilibili, YouTube, and TikTok pages.
- Current tab information: when the extension popup is opened, Enclip reads the active tab URL to determine whether the current website is supported and to send a user-requested rescan command to that tab.
-
Extension preferences: enabled or paused state,
profile-only mode, selected metrics, and color preference. These
settings are stored with
chrome.storage.syncso Chrome may synchronize them across browsers signed in to the same Chrome profile. -
Temporary statistics cache: parsed public video or
post statistics are stored in
chrome.storage.localfor up to five minutes to reduce duplicate requests and improve loading performance.
How the information is used
The information described above is used only to:
- identify supported video and post cards on the current page;
- display public statistics and calculated engagement rates;
- apply the user's display and feature preferences;
- rescan the current page when the user requests it; and
- avoid unnecessary repeated requests through short-term caching.
External network requests
Enclip may request the public detail page for a video or post when the current page does not expose all metrics. These HTTPS requests are made directly to the same supported service: Douyin, Bilibili, YouTube, or TikTok. The browser may include the user's existing session cookies in a request to that service. Enclip does not read, copy, store, or transmit those cookies to the developer.
The requested HTML or JSON is parsed only to obtain public post metadata and statistics. Code contained in a remote response is not executed by Enclip.
Information Enclip does not collect
- No names, email addresses, phone numbers, or payment information
- No passwords, authentication tokens, or copied cookies
- No form entries, private messages, or private files
- No browsing history; the current tab URL is inspected transiently only when the popup is opened and is not stored or sent to the developer
- No analytics, telemetry, advertising identifiers, or crash reports
Sharing and sale of information
Enclip does not sell, rent, or share user data with advertisers, data brokers, or other third parties. Enclip does not use information for personalized advertising, creditworthiness, lending, or any purpose unrelated to its single user-facing purpose. The developer does not operate a server that receives users' browsing data or the public statistics processed by the extension.
Permissions
-
storage— saves extension preferences and a short-term local cache of public statistics. -
activeTab— temporarily reads the current tab URL when the user opens Enclip and sends a requested rescan command to that tab. - Host permissions — allow Enclip to run on and request public content from the supported Douyin, Bilibili, YouTube, and TikTok domains. Enclip does not request access to all websites.
Data retention and user control
Public statistics cached locally expire after five minutes. Extension preferences remain until the user changes them, clears the extension's data, disables Chrome Sync for the extension, or uninstalls Enclip. Users can pause page processing at any time with the main switch in the Enclip popup.
Security
Enclip limits access to the minimum supported domains declared in its manifest. All external requests use HTTPS. All executable JavaScript and CSS is packaged with the extension; Enclip does not download or execute remote code.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
Enclip's use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Information is used only to provide or improve Enclip's single user-facing purpose and is not transferred for advertising or unrelated purposes.
Children's privacy
Enclip is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated if Enclip's functionality or data practices change. The revised policy will be published on this page with an updated date. Material changes will also be disclosed as required by applicable Chrome Web Store policies.
